When you obtain a permit you will receive:

Permit
Permit Receipt
Permit Placard
Contractor, Subcontractor, Vendor, Supplier Listing
Required Inspections for New Construction (if applicable)
Construction set of plans (if applicable)
Plan Review Detail (if applicable)
Permit Placard (must be posted at the jobsite within plain view from the street)

Contractor, Subcontractor:

Must be kept on the jobsite and kept up to date. This listing will be used to verify business licenses for individuals and businesses working on the project. If it is not up to date, the inspection may be delayed. If an unlicensed contractor is working on the site, his work will be stopped. He may be fined and the permit temporarily suspended until the contractors comply. The work of unlicensed contractors Will Not Be Inspected. The listing for Subcontractors must list each business or individual exactly as his license has been issued by the City of Hartsville.

If the work is being done by someone on your payroll, which means that you deduct withholding taxes from their pay, they should be shown as employee on the listing. All others are subcontractors and must have their own Business License for the work or job.

Required Inspections for New Construction:

This list shows required inspections for new construction. This will apply to additions and some items may apply to renovations and repairs as well. It is the permit holder’s responsibility to contact the Building Department to schedule the required inspections. If you cover up work before it is inspected, you run the risk of having to remove some of the work for the inspector to perform his job.
Construction Plans & Plan Review Details:

Construction plans (if applicable) will be marked as having been reviewed by the City of Hartsville and will bear the signature of the reviewer. These plans along with the plan review detail must be kept on the jobsite, protected from the weather, and available for review by the inspector during the entire construction period. All pages will be signed and inspections will only be done from approved drawings. Changes to the project will not be considered until reviewed and approved by the Building Official.

Inspection Reports:

You will always receive a written inspection report. If you do not, you have not been inspected. When you schedule an inspection, you will be given a time and date. You may be required to be on site during some inspections. The inspector will note any deficiencies on the report, and place it on the contractor’s board or mailbox. You should make special note of the area entitled Next Inspection Required. This will assist in not covering up work before inspection is done. If you look on the back of the inspection report, the Required Inspections for New Construction listing is also shown there for your reference.

Protection of Plans and Documents
:

A suitable contractor’s board or mailbox must be provided on site for all construction related materials (plans, contractor’s listing, review detail, etc.). The inspector will leave inspection reports in this place if no one is on site for inspections.
