John L. (Johnny) Andrews has been a lifelong resident of Hartsville, South Carolina. He is a graduate of Coker College in 1974 and the University of South Carolina in 1975. Andrews has been employed in the Hartsville area schools (Butler High School, Hartsville High School) since 1975 as a Social Studies teacher. He has also taught Adult Education for over twenty years. Prior to beginning his service on Hartsville’s City Council, Andrews served as a member of the Hartsville Planning Commission and the Hartsville Centennial Committee. His pastimes include genealogy and local history. Andrews served as the president of the Darlington County Historical Society and the South Carolina Genealogical Society and is a volunteer at the Hartsville Genealogical Research Library. A member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Lydia, S.C., Andrews is married to the former Debbie Bass. They have two adult children. Council Member Andrews was elected to Hartsville’s City Council in 1999. |
