William Heathman

Fire Chief

Welcome to the City of Hartsville Fire Department. Thank you for taking the time to visit us. Please take a few moments to browse through the programs and services that we provide for our citizens.

The Hartsville Fire Department was established on April 6, 1908. The first city fire apparatus consisted of a wagon pulled by two horses named “Billy” and “Mann” who served the city from 1909 until 1917. Today, our department protects approximately 7,500 City and 31,000 County residents within a 24.27 square mile response area.  We operate with five fire engines, one 100-foot aerial tower ladder truck, one quick attack brush unit, and one service truck.

We deliver a full range of emergency services including fire suppression, fire prevention and education classes, hazardous materials response, medical first responder, and code enforcement.

As you view our web pages,  we think you will find us to be a very progressive and professional organization. We value our residents, business owners, and visitors to our community and are proud to serve. We constantly strive to improve the level of services our staff provides to the whole community.

On behalf of the men and women of the Hartsville Fire Department, I thank you for taking the time to visit with us.

Sincerely,

William Heathman
